Pinnacles can offer you a bespoke day or course in all aspects of summer mountaineering skills. Whether you need to brush up on your navigation for personal days out or you are working towards your Mountain Leader award, we can tailor the content to suit you.

We will meet you in the Cheviots, Lake District or even Scotland if you wish.
If you prefer a guided day out in the hills, our instructors are on hand to take you on your chosen route. Just leave the navigation to us!

Winter Mountain Walking

Mountaineering courses are run in Scotland throughout the winter season. Courses usually last 2 days and cover some or all of the following skills.

Walking in snow without crampons
Crampon use on ice and snow
Walking with the ice axe
Cutting steps
Ice axe arrest
Avalanche awareness
Winter navigation
Route planning
Weather awareness
Rope work for winter walkers
Equipment selection

Winter courses could include snow holing if desired.
Our instructors will equip you with the skills necessary for safe travel across the mountains in winter conditions.
Even if you have never ventured onto the mountains in winter, we can guide you safely on the route of your choice if you prefer.
